Cambridge driver among five killed in Norwich Township crash

A driver from Cambridge is among five people killed following a crash in Norwich Township.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the collision at the Highway 59 and Quaker Street intersection around 3 p.m. on March 31.

An SUV and a transport truck collided.

The driver of the SUV, a 39-year-old from Cambridge, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers, a 13-year-old and a 17-year-old from Tillsonburg, were also pronounced deceased.

Two other passengers were taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.

On April 9, OPP confirmed the 46-year-old and 21-year-old from Tillsonburg had succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased.

“I just want to take this opportunity to send all my deepest and sincerest condolences to everybody that’s been affected by this tragedy,” said Sgt. Ed Sanchuk. “To all family and friends, you’re in our thoughts.”

The driver of the transport truck was not hurt in the collision.

Sanchuk said as a result of the investigation, no charges will be laid and no further information will be released.
