House fire in Kitchener being investigated as suspicious

A fire that hit a home on Major Street in Kitchener is under investigation as being suspicious.
It happened on Major Street near Wellington Street North and Lancaster Street, around 6 on Sunday morning.
Waterloo regional police confirm to 570 NewsRadio there were no injuries.
Firefighters arrived to find a unit at the back of the two-storey house fully engulfed in flames, and police said the flames caused significant damage.
Wellington Street was closed from Lancaster to St. Leger while the fire was active.
The cause of the fire has not been determined yet, but “police are treating the incident as suspicious.”
A statement from the Kitchener Fire Department said damage is estimated at $500,000.
The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate, and local emergency officials will collaborate with them.
