Guelph porch pirate steals ‘desperately needed’ child heart monitor

Some cases of porch piracy are far more serious than others, with Guelph Police making an arrest after a child’s heart monitor disappeared.

Police in the Royal City said they were called soon after 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, from a home in the area of Willow Road and Applewood Crescent.

The resident told police a package had just been stolen from their front porch, and inside was a pediatric heart monitor that their child desperately needed.

Officers found the suspect nearby, still carrying the package.

Police said a search of the suspect also turned up a pair of prescription glasses, allegedly stolen from a vehicle in the neighbourhood.

A 43-year-old man from Guelph is facing theft related charges, and two counts of breaching probation.
