The Waterloo District Catholic School Board (WDCSB) is again changing the location of its meeting scheduled for Monday, April 28.
In a press release, WDCSB said the change was due to an oversight in the director’s office and the meeting would be held at the Catholic Education Centre, as originally scheduled.
The meeting was moved to Resurrection High School, less than a week ago. At the time, WCDSB said the move was because of a polling station near the education center and the board wanted to be “good neighbours” and ensure “unimpeded access” to the polling station.
Monday is the federal election day.
In a new statement to 570 NewsRadio, WDCSB said:
“Out of an abundance of caution, and given the Catholic Education Centre’s proximity to a polling station in the neighbouring building, the decision was initially made to relocate the upcoming Board meeting to help minimize any potential disruptions for voters. However, as the Board’s By-Laws specify the time and date of meetings, and the proposed change was not formally enacted, the meeting will proceed at the originally scheduled location.”
This meeting has been garnering quite a bit of attention due to its contentious nature.
Trustees will be voting on a motion to ban all flags on board property except for the Canadian, provincial and the board’s flag. That would include the Pride and Progress flags.
Protestors have been outside the board offices during past meetings where the motion was discussed.
Monday is expected to be no different.
