Closure of Elizabeth Ziegler Public School extended to March 28

The closure of Elizabeth Ziegler Public School has been extended to March 28.

The Waterloo public school has been closed since March 4 after a slab of concrete fell, sparking safety concerns.

“This closure is in response to a recent concern discovered with the facade of the school,” reads a release from the Waterloo Region District School Board.

The board said the prolonged school closure is needed to continue carrying out comprehensive structural testing. After that, officials need to evaluate and determine next steps.

A further update is expected to be provided to families by this Friday.

In the interim, students will continue learning remotely and devices are being provided. They’ve been away from school this week due to March Break.
