Two arrested in Waterloo as part of stolen vehicle investigation

There was a heavy police presence in Waterloo Tuesday morning, relating to a stolen vehicle investigation.

Six police cruisers were parked at a residence on Erb Street at the Fischer-Hallman Road intersection around 8 a.m.

According to police a stolen vehicle was located in that area with two occupants inside.

A 39-year-old woman and a 36-year-old woman both from Kitchener were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.

The accused were held in police custody for a bail hearing.

Waterloo Regional Police initially described the situation as an active investigation, and noted there is no threat to public safety.
