The whole Region is invited to Carl Zehr Square this afternoon for the 3rd Annual Canadian Arab Women’s Association Festival, celebrating Arab culture.
It’s a chance to meet and engage with your Arab neighbours and learn more about our differences and similarities, all in the name of understanding, acceptance and community.
Asma Alwahsh, Founder and Executive Director, Canadian Arab Women’s Association told 570 NewsRadio Kitchener, Waterloo Region has proven to be a welcoming and supportive place.
“We are really fortunate in our region that the community goes out and attends (the festival) and asks questions. They are really eager to learn and this is what is really special about our region. As a community we are all coming together despite our differences.”
Alwahsh said the timing couldn’t be better for an event like this given the situations playing out in Arab countries.
“Because of what is happening in the Middle East now, in Palestine, in Lebanon and in Sudan. We are trying this year to focus more on education and to let people know more about our countries.”
The festival beings at noon.
There will be live entertainment with dancers and musicians, food vendors, artisans and other events for the whole family.
