Cyclist killed in crash with pickup truck outside of Elora

A 55-year-old cyclist from Elora has died after a crash west of the Salem area.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, they were called to reports of a crash between a red pickup truck and a bicycle.

The crash took place on Wellington Road 18, shutting down the large stretch of roadway between Wellington Road 7 and Eighth Line West until early Wednesday morning.

The cyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

OPP are still investigating what caused the collision.

No charges have been laid at this time.
