As Oktoberfest comes to a close, another drinking event has returned to Kitchener…this time with a Mexican twist.
Pablo Tovar is the executive director of Stereo Caliente Entertainment, an entertainment company from London, Ont. that hosts multicultural events, including an annual Tequila Expo this November.
“[Tequila is] a beautiful art, it's a beautiful spirit,” Tovar said in a previous interview with CityNews Kitchener. “The Tequila Expo is a celebration of agave spirits. So what we want to do is educate people and promote tequila and mezcal products.”
The theme of the event is Day of the Dead but attendees should expect to see decorations, performances from local music company Ballet Folkorico Puro Mexico, a mariachi band, lucha libre wrestlers, and music by Dj Renzo.
In addition to tequila and cerveza, food and drink vendors will include a Chupitos bar, Cantarito bar, as well as Margarita and Caesar bars.
Originating in London five years ago and Oshawa four before that, the event has sold out every year since it launched.
The event will take place Nov. 12 at Bingemans from 12 to 11:30 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
