It's been a long time coming for students, staff and teachers for a return to in-person school learning.
Students are returning to the school for the first time since the last shutdown.
Bill Lemon, Superintendent with the Waterloo Region District School Board said there is one major adjustment that students and teachers will go through.
“I would say the one notable change that students and staff will experience, with the information our public health partners have learned about the transmission of COVID-19, is that we will see the use of shared items that will be used around the classroom cohorts,” he said.
Lemon said in total, of the around 65,000 students enrolled with the public school board, about 3,500 are still doing remote learning.
He said they're prepped and ready for in-person learning.
“I feel that with the health and safety protocols that we have in place, that our school settings are prepared for a successful return to in-person learning,” Lemon said.
“We do believe that the social interaction and inter-personal contact is an important part of a student's education.”
