Three additional Laurier students test positive for COVID-19 at Waterloo campus

One day after public health had declared an outbreak at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Waterloo campus, officials from the university confirm another three students have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a release from the university, one of those cases is in a student living in Clara Conrad Hall at the Waterloo Campus and is considered part of the outbreak declared by public health on Saturday. There are now three confirmed cases of COVID-19 linked to that outbreak.

In addition to that case, two other students living in residence at the Waterloo campus have also tested positive for COVID-19. The university said the residence building of these two cases will not be disclosed for privacy reasons.

All three individuals are now said to be in self-isolation, as the university said all cases are being managed by our region’s public health unit. Wilfrid Laurier University continues to follow the direction of public health and said it will take further actions and provide updates as necessary.

The latest update marks fourteen confirmed on-campus cases of COVID-19 in the last two weeks.
