ATS Automation producing medical equipment to support COVID-19 fight

ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. has announced they will begin producing medical equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a news release from the manufacturing company, they will start making Filtering Facepiece Respirators (FFR), Ventilator Components, COVID-19 test kits, and more.

ATS Automation CEO, Andrew Hider, says countries 'are turning to ATS to scale up production of critical medical devices as organizations worldwide are needed to overcome capacity constraints and supply chain shortages.'

“We're enabling customers to manufacture important products such as ventilators and respirators, that are desperately needed to treat patients, protect healthcare workers, and contain the coronavirus pandemic.” said Hider in the release. “We are proud to play our part and ready to do more.”

According to ATS, their Cambridge plant is only one of many global ATS facilities contracted to make medical devices.

When the pandemic subsides, ATS says they will help companies return to full production once manufacturing restarts and bring production back onshore to prepare for future disruptions to supply chains.

Hider says ATS' greatest assets during this time is their employees as the Cambridge plant is working with its 1200 workers to adjust schedules and offer options to work from home in order to protect their health and safety.

“We couldn't be more proud of the way they have aligned to support us and to continue to this community.” said Hider, “We're really proud to be a part of this area and our employees.”
