A chance for ‘sweet’ victory: Local bakery adds a special menu item

A Waterloo bakery has a sweet tooth for the Toronto Raptors.
'Just Love Pie' on Erb Street is offering a special raspberry pie for the NBA finals.
The pie is a new addition to the menu as Raptors fever continues to hit the region. The special pie features a Raptors logo on the top.
“We are actually cutting into the pastry to make the claw,” said Dianne DeJong, Owner of Just Love Pie.
All over the region people have been supporting the Raptors on their run, and the bakery thought of something unique to add to show their support. The bakery uses a stencil cut out to get that signature Raptors logo on the pie, as well as fresh raspberries for the pie filling.
“We have done them in raspberry because of the red. We thought it would stand out,” said DeJong.
The pies have been hugely successful for the bakery as they sold out on Monday when they first introduced them. More pies will be coming for the duration of the finals, and are available to order as well.
“We completely sold out when we did the first round,” said DeJong.
The pies have been in hot demand as the store even has orders for Father's Day.
