Are Jannik Hansen and the Canucks heading to arbitration?

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s getting down to crunch time for the Canucks and forward Jannik Hansen. Their arbitration date is this Friday in Toronto.
Hansen is looking for a big raise on the $825,000 he made last year when he played in all 82 games in the regular season and had a career-high 29 points. He added nine more points in 25 playoff games.
This is the second year in a row that Hansen has filed for arbitration. The Vancouver Sun is reporting that the Canucks and Mark Stowe, Hansen’s agent, will exchange briefs today in advance of Friday morning’s scheduled arbitration hearing.
“You see the opposing side’s case, you then have two days to prepare your presentation and rebuttal,” Canucks assistant general manager Laurence Gilman tells the newspaper. “You know what the other side’s position is at that point.”
If the Canucks and Hansen actually end up before a judge, it may be the first case in the NHL to be actually heard this year. So far, 22 players have filed for arbitration, but 16 of them have already worked out new contracts with their respective clubs.
