Every year during the summer, a mobile skatepark supporting youth skaters travels across Kitchener, and this year is no different.
Kitchener’s Mobile Skatepark, also known as the “Skatium” has been travelling across the city for youth aged 8-17.
The park is open Monday-Friday around different locations, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30p.m., through the rest of August.
Where to find the mobile skatepark:
- August 4 to 7 – Centreville-Chicopee Community Centre
- August 10 to 14 – Centrevilee-Chicopee Community Centre
- August 17 to 21 – The Aud Skatepark
- August 24 to 28 – The Aud Skatepark
The “skatium” has ramps, a quarter pipe, a fly-over box, a grind box, grind rails, and kicker ramps.
The city is encouraging both experienced and first-time riders to visit the park and hang out with the local community.
Staff will be present to help and answer any questions; you will also be able to loan a skateboard, scooter and helmets for free.
Every Wednesday, the skatepark will host the Bluebird Skate Program. The paid program focuses on helping youth build confidence and resilience while improving their skateboarding abilities.
