$8.7 million construction project closes entry road to Waterloo Airport

Those planning to fly out of the Region of Waterloo International Airport should plan their commute ahead, as a construction effort will close the portion of Fountain Street North adjacent to the airport’s front entrance.
Construction will begin officially on July 20, and is needed to replace a watermain. The project, budgeted at $8.7 million, is expected to last roughly 10 weeks and will likely be completed sometime in early October.
The work will close Fountain Street North at the Fountain/Kossuth/Fairway North roundabout, with a detour route still providing access to the airport. Drivers approaching the closure from south of the airport will need to follow the posted signage to take Kossuth Rd eastbound, before turning north onto Shantz Station Road, then back west onto Menno Street to arrive at the airport.
The Region of Waterloo confirms that access to the Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF) will remain fully intact throughout the project, but that transit delays should be expected throughout the 10-week period.
