A busy stretch of roadway in the southeast end of Cambridge is due for improvements.
The Region of Waterloo is looking to upgrade Myers Road between Water Street and Branchton Road, a nearly 3.5-kilometre stretch.
The plan already looks to improve deteriorating road conditions, improve access for pedestrians and cyclists through multi-use trails, and add curbs and storm sewers to not only enhance drainage but also reduce speeding.
Underground infrastructure will also be upgraded in the massive project.
Upgrades and construction in the area are nothing new. The first public engagement opportunity was held back in 2019, with the most recent engagement session in 2021.
More on roadwork around the region
Since then, short-term improvements have already been installed, including a pedestrian ramp connecting Myers to California roads.
There has also been a focus on improving parking and student safety around Moffat Creek Public School, including raised crosswalks and pedestrian islands put into the plan.
The next public engagement period is now open, closing on June 26.
The region has released an informational video on the project so far, looking to have the final plans approved by August.
The multi-year construction needed for the plan could potentially run from 2028-2030.
