School bus lands in reservoir, no students on board

A school bus had to be removed from a local reservoir on Wednesday morning.

Waterloo regional police said reports about a school bus off the side of the road on Union Street in Elmira came in around 7:30 a.m.

A police spokesperson confirmed to 570 NewsRadio that there were no students on board at the time of the crash.

“At approximately 7:30 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a school bus into a reservoir on Union Street in Woolwich,” said police. “Only the driver was on the bus at the time of the incident.”

The driver suffered minor injuries.

Although police said they did not have immediate details on the driver’s identity, they confirmed the bus was not stolen.

It’s not clear at this time what caused the crash.
