A lengthy multi-jurisdiction investigation into a Guelph man has resulted in charges after he was accused of stealing over $200,000 from multiple businesses.
The Guelph Police Service say the suspect became on their radar in April 2024 after a Guelph hospitality business discovered what they believed to be fraudulent activity. The suspect is alleged to have falsified invoices while demanding payment from customers for outstanding balances related to private and corporate events, while working for said business.
After discovering the thefts, the suspect was terminated by the business.
Towards the end of 2025, Guelph police were contacted again by another police service after the same man was alleged to have defrauded another hospitality business outside of Guelph. In the second case, the suspect is alleged to have been accepting event deposits, without actually completing bookings, leading to fraudulent income.
The 41-year-old Guelph man was arrested on August 18. He has been charged with two counts of fraud over $5000.
The accused will appear in court on November 3.
