Vendor applications open for landmark Christkindl Market anniversary

It’s one of the region’s beloved and most attended markets, and this year it’s celebrating a huge milestone with an extra weekend of holiday cheer.

Kitchener’s Christkindl Market will mark its 30th anniversary, drawing in thousands of visitors from across the province and community over a four-day weekend. However, as one of the most successful events, this year the festival will take place over two weekends.

“Kitchener’s Christkindl Market has been a beloved part of the annual holiday season for generations of residents and visitors in the lead up to Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and all the celebrations in December of each year,” said Mayor Berry Vrbanovic.

It will take place over Dec. 3-6 and 10-13. The city says in a press release this will help people attend it and celebrate the holiday season with new experiences. It is expected that over 100,000 people will visit the market in 2026.

Following the news of the dual weekends, the City of Kitchener is also accepting applications for new vendors wanting to participate for the special anniversary.

Businesses that have giftable products, previous event experience, locally handmade items, high quality products and are unique will be prioritized, the release reads.

Vendors can apply for one or both weekends. The city is accepting applications until May 1.

“Christkindl is always a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talent and creativity of our thriving local businesses, and I can’t wait to share with everyone what we have in store this year,” Vrbanovic said.
