Freezing rain to impact the Friday morning commute

Environment Canada issued a warning to Waterloo Region ahead of a freezing rain system on Friday.

According to the weather authority, the area could see between 2 to 5 millimetres of ice build-up.

It says that the precipitation should change over to rain by Friday afternoon as temperatures rise above 0 C.

“Roads and walkways will likely become icy and slippery,” the warning reads. “There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic.”

The system is expected to impact most of the GTA on Friday.
