WRPS make arrest shortly after armed Kitchener robbery

By Justin Koehler

A man from Kitchener is now facing charges through Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) following a dangerous armed robbery in the city’s north end.

Officers say they were told of the incident Sunday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m., sending units to the area of Victoria Street North and Weber Street East.

They were told of an unknown man who entered the business, pulled out a firearm, stole various products from the business, and left before police arrived.

Once officers made it to the scene, and not long after, they were able to find and identify the suspect in question just a short distance away.

As a result, the 58-year-old Kitchener man was arrested and charged with a list of offences, including robbery, pointing a firearm, and failing to comply with a release order.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

WRPS is now asking that anyone with further details on the incident give them a call at 519-570-9777, or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
