Guelph female arrested in hate-motivated incident

A young woman from Guelph has been charged following a hate-motivated incident in Waterloo.

Regional Police say they responded to reports of a disturbance at an establishment on King Street North around 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning.

An initial investigation determined that a physical altercation occurred between a group of individuals. During the incident, an individual allegedly directed racial slurs towards a victim while causing property damage.

Police say the victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

As a result, a 19-year-old Guelph female was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
