Even though it was a Wednesday night game in the middle of January, it felt like the playoffs when the Kitchener Rangers came up against the Windsor Spitfires for the first time this season.
It took overtime, but the Rangers came out on top 3-2 over the Spitfires after mounting two comebacks, including a late goal to force the extra frame in Windsor.
Rangers forward Jack Pridham scored the game-winner in overtime, and Dylan Edwards scored both Rangers goals in regulation. Pridham now has the second-most goals in the OHL with 29.
Speaking with 570 NewsRadio during the postgame, Rangers Head Coach Jussi Ahokas celebrated his team’s performance, calling it a “January playoff type of game” with a strong third period from the Blueshirts.

“It was really tight both ways; not a lot of chances, a lot of good defence,” said Ahokas. “Edwards played a hell of a game, but we got the job done. I like how we played in the third, and then overtime we took over.”
After the win, the Rangers remain in second place in the Western Conference, just four points behind the conference-leading Flint Firebirds with two games in hand. The Firebirds face the Spitfires twice in a back-to-back this weekend.
The Rangers prep for a Friday night game against the Owen Sound Attack on Friday. Last time those two sides played each other, the Rangers ran out 7-4 winners at The Bayshore in Owen Sound.
