City of Waterloo opens applications for summer positions

Polish up those resumes, the City of Waterloo is hiring for a range of summer positions.

The city is looking to fill more than 85 staff openings to support services over the summer months.

Those hired will be deployed to assist in parks, camps, aquatics, recreational programming and special events, among others.

The City of Waterloo is a living wage employer. That means all full-time, part-time and contract staff start at a minimum of $22.70. That new wage comes into effect April 1.

The city is hosting a Summer Job Fair on Jan. 14 at the Waterloo Recreation Centre from 4:40 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Kathy Weidhaas, Director, Human Resources at the City of Waterloo, said in a statement that seasonal staff and students are a key part of the city team.

“They strengthen neighbourhoods and bring people together, while developing professional skills and deepening their own local connections,” she said.

Applications for those summer positions will be accepted until Jan. 19, 2026.
