Family dispute in Guelph ends in attempted murder charges

A 39-year-old Guelph man is facing an attempted murder charge after his mother reported to Guelph Police that she was assaulted and strangled.

The incident happened on Dec. 21 and the woman, in her 60s, was then taken to hospital to receive medical treatment.

Police were called to the area of Edinburgh Road North and London Road West following the incident.

The man now faces multiple charges including attempted murder, assault with a weapon, two counts of assault causing bodily harm and breaching a probation order.
