Rangers coaching staff, defenders named to top prospects game

The Kitchener Rangers coaching staff, along with a pair of talented young defenders, have been selected to represent the Western Conference in the 2026 Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game.

The annual event, which features the OHL’s top NHL Draft-eligible prospects divided into two teams by the Eastern Conference and Western Conference, is set to take place in Peterborough on Jan. 14.

The Rangers bench boss and reigning OHL Coach of the Year, Jussi Ahokas, will coach the Western Conference team alongside Associate Coach Jeff Kyrzakos, Assistant Coach Brad Flynn, Head Trainer and Equipment Manager Dan Lebold, and Head Athletic Therapist Nick Lichti.

On the ice, defenders Jacob Xu and Alexander Bilecki will play for the Western Conference team, alongside rivals like Guelph’s Zachary Jovanovski and London’s Brady Wassilyn.

Rosters for the game were selected by a committee made up of scouts from NHL Central Scouting, with input from NHL general managers.

Tickets for the game can be purchased here.
