A driver fled the scene of a midday crash involving at least four vehicles at one of the busiest intersections in Waterloo.
According to Waterloo regional police, officers responded to the scene of a crash at University Avenue and Weber Street at around 11:20 a.m., Thursday.
Northbound lanes of Weber were also closed between University and Marshall Street during the investigation.
Police noted that four vehicles were involved in the collision: a black Jeep, a green Hyundai, a brown Nissan, and a black Audi.
Photos from the scene showed the black Jeep facing one direction, sitting diagonally on its driver’s side tires, wedged between the Audi and Nissan facing the other direction.
Another photo shows the green Hyundai in the intersection with heavy front end damage, with a fire truck parked nearby.
According to police, the driver of the Jeep ran a red light and after the crash, fled the scene on foot.
Officers also determined that the Jeep was reported stolen back in July and had been refitted with fake licence plates.
No injuries were reported in this incident, and police continue to investigate.
