Four youths seriously injured in North Dumfries crash

Four teenagers are in hospital after a serious single-vehicle crash that forced Waterloo regional police to close off a portion of Clyde Road in North Dumfries.

It was just after 12:30 on Monday morning when police were notified of that crash involving a driver losing control of their vehicle, leaving the roadway and striking a hydro pole in the Clyde Road area, near Clydebank Drive.

The investigation on Clyde Road, between Village Road and Clydebank Drive was in place for several hours before reopening Monday afternoon. The service had warned that hydro repairs were needed through that stretch.

Four youths have been taken to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries either by ambulance or air ambulance. Those individuals have since been identified as one 15-year-old girl behind the wheel and, three other youths under the age of 16 as passengers.

Previous updates from officials had indicated five youths were injured in that collision. It’s unclear if any charges will be laid as a result of this crash.
