Regional police lay charges connected to Beechwood break-in

A Hamilton man is facing several charges following an investigation into a break and enter in Waterloo.

Regional Police were called to a home in the Stillmeadow Circle and Beechlawn Drive area on Sunday.

Police say three masked men gained entry to the home where they allegedly assaulted the homeowner with a hammer and bear spray before fleeing.

The victim was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

A police service dog was brought in and was able to locate one suspect who was arrested.

A 54-year-old Hamilton man is now facing the following charges:

  • Robbery with a firearm;
  • Disguise with intent;
  • Break and enter; and
  • Assault with a weapon.

He was held for bail hearing.

The Waterloo Regional Police Robbery Unit continues to investigate.

Residents in the area are asked to check their security cameras, specifically on Sept. 21, between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. for any suspicious activity.
