Guelph police break-up drug trafficking operation

Guelph police have arrested seven people, including two youths, as part of a drug trafficking investigation that began earlier this month.

The Drug Enforcement Unit was looking into a man who was suspected of dealing drugs out of a motel in the city.

On Wednesday, September 10, officers executed search warrants at two motel rooms.

They seized large quantities of suspected crystal methamphetamine and cocaine. They also recovered a 9mm handgun with an over-capacity magazine, Canadian cash and drug packaging materials.

Three men, aged 18 to 41 and two boys, aged 15 and 17 were arrested and charged with two counts each of trafficking along with various weapons offences.

The 15-year-old was also charged with possession of stolen property. He was spotted driving a stolen Honda CRV during the investigation.

Two more adults, a 38-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were each charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

All the accused were from Guelph.

They were held, pending a bail hearing.
