Guelph police seize more than $120K in drugs in trafficking investigation

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Guelph police are touting a sizable summertime bust that saw more than $120,000 worth of illegal drugs seized.

The Guelph Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit launched an investigation earlier this summer into two men who were believed to be trafficking fentanyl.

The investigation came to a culmination last week when officers from three police units searched two homes and a storage locker in the west end of the city.

They seized thousands of dollars worth of drugs, including fentanyl valued at $116,000, along with crystal meth, cocaine, psilocybin and Hydromorphone.

Police also recovered stolen property, about $10,000 in cash, and several weapons, like a crossbow and nunchucks.

Five people were arrested: two Guelph men and three Guelph women. They’re facing nearly two dozen charges for drugs, weapons, and property-related offences.
