The Kitchener Rangers have added a top Finnish talent to the roster ahead of the start of the regular season.
Oscar Alexander Hemming, 17, signed on as a Blueshirt after being drafted in round one of the 2025 OHL Import Draft in July.
Hemming is a 6’4″ forward, weighing in at about 190 pounds, who brings a goal-scoring pedigree to the Rangers’ forward line.
“Oscar is a high end player and one of the top Finnish players in the age group,” said Rangers General Manager Mike McKenzie in a press release. “He brings a unique blend of size, physicality, hockey sense and scoring. We are really excited to welcome Oscar and the Hemming family to the Rangers and look forward to seeing him develop in a Ranger uniform.”
Last season, Hemming played at the U18 and U20 level for Keikko-Espoo, a team in Finland’s top division. In the U18 division, Hemming put up 63 points in just 31 games.
Hemming is only the third Finnish-born player to suit up for the Rangers, following in the footsteps of Jorma Aro, who had a stint in R-Town in the 1960s and Ville Ottavainen, who was a Ranger for the 2019/20 season.
