Assault with a weapon on ION train in Kitchener ends with arrest

A man in his 20s is facing charges for an alleged assault with a weapon on an ION train in Kitchener.

Waterloo regional police said it happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday, while an ION was travelling in the Courtland Avenue East and Block Line Road area.

Investigators said a 26-year-old man both threatened and assaulted a victim with a weapon.

Police said that victim was not hurt, physically.

They have not specified the type of weapon, or the age or gender of the victim — 570 NewsRadio has reached out to police for more information about that.

Police said the suspect was charged with uttering threats to cause death, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Investigators are still looking into what happened, and would like to hear from witnesses.
