Police search for intruder after ‘disturbance’ at Kitchener home, one person hospitalized

A reported disturbance prompted a police presence in a Kitchener neighbourhood on Thursday and the incident is believed to be targeted.
Police responded to a home on Selkirk Drive in the Block Line Road and Strasburg Road area around 11 a.m.
A lone male suspect armed with a handgun allegedly entered the residence through a back door but he was quickly confronted by two male occupants.
An altercation then ensued and the suspect used an edged weapon to harm one of occupants, a 48-year-old Kitchener man, who was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the suspect initially fled the scene on foot and then hopped into an awaiting vehicle.
The suspect is described as being a Black male, between 5’6” and 5’7”, and was wearing a surgical mask, brown sunglasses, brown hoodie, black pants, and a black backpack.
Police said the investigation is ongoing by their robbery unit.
