A Cambridge home that was shot at in June has now been scorched by fire in July.
The Cambridge Fire Department and Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) were called out to 91 Roseview Ave. in Galt on the night of July 3. It comes as the same house was hit by gunfire on June 8, when someone allegedly fired shots into the house and ran off on foot.
The fire left scorch marks up the sides of the walls from ground-floor windows. The front door was left open, showing a dark, blackened interior, with some personal effects also left out on the front lawn, including a baby stroller.
WRPS stated that the fire is being probed through its General Investigations Unit, saying, “At this time, police are treating the fire as suspicious.”
In a statement to 570 NewsRadio, police said there were no reports of any physical injuries, but again stated the severity of the damage sustained to the building itself.
They added that, in relation to the prior incident at the same house last month, “There is no evidence to indicate the fire is connected to the shooting.”
The investigation remains ongoing and police have since issued a warrant for 29-year-old Andrew Reis in connection with the house fire.
The Cambridge man is described as being 5’9”, 160 lbs, and has tattoos on both of his arms.
Anyone with information on Reis’ whereabouts is asked to call police at 519-570-9777 ext. 6370 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
