Two people are recovering from minor injuries after a shooting at a home in Kitchener, regional police said.
Officers said they responded to reports of shots being fired in the area of Breckenridge Drive around 9:50 p.m. Saturday. There were an unspecified number of people inside the residence who were known to the homeowner at the time.
Officials say the initial investigation determined that three masked males in hooded sweatshirts broke into a residence and stole property. There was a fourth person involved in the situation who was in a small white SUV, police said.
When the homeowner returned and confronted them, an alleged altercation ensued, and shots were fired. After, the homeowner followed the suspects while police were en route.
The suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle and were followed to the highway exit on Wellington Street North, where more shots were fired, the press release reads.
The investigation is still ongoing – anyone with information or video footage is asked to contact police at 519-570-9777, extension 8255.
