Hate-motivated incident under investigation in Waterloo

Police were called to an altercation in a parking lot that is now a part of a hate-motivated investigation.

On June 12, officers from the Waterloo Regional Police Service responded around 8:50 p.m. for an altercation in the area of King Street North and Hickory Street West.

According to a press release, a male was sitting in his parked vehicle when he was approached by an unknown man who began “yelling racist comments” at the victim. The man, police said, then wrote racial slurs on the rear windshield of the victim’s car before leaving the area on foot.

Police said no injuries were sustained in this incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 30-40 years old and around 6’0″. At the time he was wearing a baseball cap, grey hoodie, blue jeans and white shoes.
