Cambridge middle school reopening after water main break

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

A water main break prompted authorities to close a Cambridge senior public school on May 29 but it will be open for students next week.

St. Andrew’s P.S. students continued learning through asynchronous resources online on Thursday, after a water main break forced its closure.

The track and field meet went ahead on May 29 as scheduled at Jacob Hespeler Secondary School.

In a press release, the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) said that facility services and staff were “working quickly to address the situation.”

On Thursday afternoon, the WRDSB said the water main break was a result of a sprinkler line malfunction.

The school will reopen Friday, May 30 for staff as it’s a PD Day, while students will return to their classrooms on Monday, June 2.
