The baristas at two more Starbucks locations in Kitchener and Waterloo have won their first-ever union contract.
The United Steelworkers (USW) said the staff at the Fairway Plaza location, on Fairway Road South, and at the Indigo store in Conestoga Mall, “have now reached their first contracts and collective agreement.”
The Starbucks in Uptown Waterloo was the first location in Ontario to unionize, in May 2023, and won a ratified contract through USW in October last year.
Starbucks locations in Ajax and Toronto have also now done the same.
The union did not disclose details of the new contracts.
In a statement, Kevon Stewart, USW District 6 Director, said “baristas are organizing, speaking out and winning real improvements in their workplaces.”
