Kitchener’s official bird announced

Kitchener is not only a Bird Friendly City, but now also one with an official bird.
A poll put out by the Bird Friendly City committee back in November 2024 had over 1,200 people vote for the new feathery friend.
Out of the four options: Killdeer, Dark-Eyed Junco, Merlin, and Chimney Swift; the Dark-Eyed Junco got the win with 45.1 per cent of the vote.
The runner up was the falcon, the Merlin with 27.1 per cent of the vote.
