Police arrest suspect after break and enter in Kitchener

A 45-year-old man from Kitchener is facing numerous charges after an altercation with police on Saturday.
Around 5:45 p.m., police responded to the area of Shirley Drive and Cedarview Place in Kitchener after receiving reports of a break and enter in progress and a stolen vehicle.
Through their investigation, police found the vehicle in Cambridge in a parking lot in the area of Saginaw Parkway and Townline Road. Officers managed to block it in. They then say the driver attempted to get away by ramming into two police cruisers, resulting in his arrest.
He now faces multiple charges, including:
- Break and enter;
- Possession of break and enter tools;
- Mischief under $5,000;
- Three counts of Motor vehicle theft;
- Two counts of Dangerous driving;
- Flight from police;
- Drive while disqualified;
- Obstruct police; and
- Drive while under suspension.
The suspect was held in custody for a bail hearing. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Regional Police.
