There were hours of delays in Kitchener’s Forest Heights area after a vehicle struck a hydro pole on Fischer-Hallman impacting a slew of drivers and thousands of residents.
It all happened Saturday afternoon, with Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) saying a vehicle had hit a hydro pole between Greenbrook Drive and Ottawa Street South, impacting the lights at intersections in the area.
Officers closed the northbound lanes of traffic on Fischer-Hallman for cleanup efforts, allowing power crews to begin restorations to the impacted hydro pole.
Enova Power said that over 3,000 people living in the area also faced power outages due to the crash, with calls into 570 NewsRadio saying they were in the dark for over three hours.
The outages stretched further across Fischer-Hallman as well, with the intersections at Highland Road West, Queen’s Boulevard, and McGarry Drive all seeing disruptions. Temporary lights were installed throughout the course of the repairs.
Power has since been fully restored across the region. Police have provided no further details on the crash or the extent of any injuries.
