Record number of nominations for Women of the Year awards

It’s another record-breaker for the K-W Oktoberfest Rogers Women of the Year awards.

There are 140 nominations for this year’s awards, which is the highest amount since it started 50 years ago.

“It is incredibly fitting that our 50th anniversary boasts yet another record-setting number of nominees,” said K-W Oktoberfest’s executive director, Tracy Van Kalsbeek. “This achievement highlights the abundance of exceptional female leaders within our community.”

Last year was also record-breaking for nominations, and the organization was hoping to keep the momentum going to continue recognizing all the outstanding women in Waterloo Region.

There’s a total of 140 nominees through 12 categories for the 2025 awards, and one of them is familiar to 570 NewsRadio listeners.

Morning news anchor, Christine Clark, has been nominated in the Rising Star category for Women Under 40.

The keynote speaker for the awards ceremony is globally-recognized Sarah Prevette, who is Founder and CEO at Future Design School. She called the opportunity a privilege.

“This event is a testament to the power of women supporting other women and I believe that when we uplift each other, we can achieve extraordinary things,” Prevette said.

The keynote speaker is sponsored by Gowling WLG and the awards have several sponsors including Rogers, 570 NewsRadio, and Sherwood Events.

The K-W Oktoberfest Rogers Women of the Year awards ceremony will be held May 22 and will be hosted by Robin & PJ from COUNTRY 106.7.

Rogers is the parent company of 570 NewsRadio and CityNews Kitchener.
