Temporary layoffs extended at Cambridge manufacturer

It looks as though it will be a few more days before workers at RoadTrek Inc. in Cambridge are back on the job.

Around 80 workers at the camper van manufacturer have been temporarily laid off since April 7, after being warned of the move the Friday before.

The union representing the workers, Unifor Local 1106, confirmed the temporary layoffs to 570 NewsRadio last week and cited the turmoil in the auto industry amid the uncertainty surrounding U.S. tariffs.

In an update this week, the union said the layoffs were being extended until April 21.

Once again, the union pointed to the U.S. tariffs and said it would continue to stand up for Canadian workers and jobs.

570 NewsRadio has reached out to RoadTrek for comment on multiple occasions. At the time of publishing, no reply had been received.
