Ontario rebate cheques expected by the end of the month

A government spokesperson has said Ontarians should receive their $200 rebate cheque from the province by the end of January or in early February.

In the fall, Premier Doug Ford teased that taxpayers in the province could expect their cheque by early 2025, but no exact timeline had been made clear.

The policy is expected to cost the province roughly $3 billion, with roughly 12.5 million adults expected to receive the cheques and 2.5 million children.

Any Ontarian who was 18 years old at the end of 2023 and had filed their income tax for that year by the end of last month is eligible to receive the cheque.

Residents with children stand to get an additional $200 per eligible child under the age of 18.
