Rangers defenceman taking part in World Junior Championship in Ottawa

While the Kitchener Rangers take a much-deserved holiday break, one of its star players is wearing a different shade of blue as he takes part in a prestigious tournament in Ottawa.

Rangers defenceman Jakub Chromiak was involved in Slovakia’s IIHF World Junior Championship tournament opener on Boxing Day, a 5-2 loss against Sweden.

Chromiak was included in the Slovakia roster after narrowly missing the cut for last year’s tournament.

The 19-year-old is having the most prolific season of his career, racking up 16 points from the blueline over 24 games for the Rangers this year.

Chromiak’s older brother Martin also suited up for the Slovaks at the 2020 World Juniors.

Chromiak will be back in action on Friday afternoon with a game against Switzerland at TD Place.
