Catch the sparkle and light across Guelph this Christmas

If you’re looking for something to do tonight after the turkey or roast has been consumed, consider taking a drive around Guelph to see some of the most elaborate Christmas displays.

An online community group, Guelph This and That, has been collecting submissions from households all season to create a map of a route around the city where the best lights can be seen.

The route starts in the northeast end of the City, meandering near Woodlawn across the north. It then reaches out into the west end past Costco before heading south down Hwy 6 and then ending on Victoria Rd. just outside the city in Puslinch.

The displays consist of fabulous lights and large inflatables, brightening up the snowy landscape. Some even have themes. 76 Cheltonwood Ave. has an entire Whoville display which is synchronized to music. 22 Wagoners Trail has been celebrated on social media for its elaborate display of Christmas minions.

Some organizers have chosen to use their displays to help those in need in the community. Some houses along Law Dr. are collecting non-perishable food items for the east end food cupboard, Sparkles in the Park at Riverside Park is accepting cash donations for charity, and the display at 108 Forest St. is collecting donations for the school.

A full list of displays can be found online.
