Pair of Woolwich schools to get speed cameras with speed limits halved

As speed cameras continue to go up around Waterloo Region, new speed limits are being put in place.

Regional council approved some big changes to school zones in Woolwich Township, cutting speed limits in half by two schools.

Motorists will now have to drive 40 km/h when passing King Alfred Academy on Lobsinger Line near Martin’s Family Fruit Farm.

That road is currently listed at 80 km/h.

Also dropping to 40 km/h from 80 km/h, Northfield Road East in Elmira by Balsam Grove Parochial School.

Speed cameras are also planned to be installed by those two schools.

Eleven new speed cameras are going up around Waterloo Region this season.

The Municipal Speed Camera Program is set to expand to all eligible school zones by 2028.

Take a look at where those cameras are set to be installed here.
