One person had to be airlifted to hospital following a serious collision in Puslinch Township on Tuesday afternoon and now, a Kitchener man is facing charges.
It was just after 3:30 p.m. when Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded alongside emergency crews, including Waterloo Region paramedics, to that three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Gore Road and Wellington Road 35.
Police say one person was airlifted to a trauma centre by Ornge air ambulance with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The other involved drivers sustained minor injuries and did not require hospital care.
That crash and the subsequent investigation closed the intersection for roughly two hours.
A 77-year-old from Kitchener now faces charges under the Highway Traffic Act, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and the Tobacco Tax Act, including:
- Careless driving causing bodily harm
- Possess unmarked fine cut tobacco
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
The accused is expected to appear in court in Guelph at a later date.
